Privacy Terms. Quick links. Post Reply. Has it been removed from TS firmware? And in general, how do I search for some scripts or files on my TS For example to run something, what is there, but not on PATH? I'm newbie to Linux and it is bit unclear for me, how to use all this "find grep" stuff to find something on my NAS.

Thank you, Trejder. Latest firmware installed. Contact schumaku. Re: [TS] Where is fsck on my machine? Probably you are looking for e2fsck?

File system check? All of them are NTFS drives. For this purpose, I can't use neither "Volume Management" section allows checking only internal disks nor "e2fsck" does not supports checking drives with NTFS.

Cheers, Trejder. Command binaries like fsck or mount for example are just wrappers calling dedicated programs, depending on the effective file system. Or waiting until QNAP supports adds one of them problably endless waiting is the only option here? Worth challenging QNAP to supply the correct matching stuff. Good question, if it will correct errors from Linux system? I have the same need for my connected iSata connected external drive to my Qnap. Isn't there any way to perform an fsck from the qnap in ssh mode runnig an equivalent of fsck on the external device?

I don't recall this over year ago case, so I don't know how did I solve that problem. But, in general, TS turned out to be useless piece of hardware and money waste. So, right now I treat it just as secondary-line backup disk. If something goes wrong and I'm unable to fix it, I simply format hard disk and re-create backup from first-line backup. I know, that people are using TS for sharing files, hosting websites and anything that goes beyond simple file backup.

However, my four years experience with TS has proven, that this just is not a hardware for such tasks. I managed to connect my external drive to MacBook and perform a disk check from within Disk Utility.Thank you for posting this script; it helped me to solve a minor issue with my QNAP box.

After a power outage that went beyond the time of UPS' ability to keep things running, the unit shut down.

To our dismay, when it powered back up, only one of the two RAID volumes was available. The second was marked " Unmounted ". Firstly, run mdadm - this command is used to manage and monitor software RAID devices in linux. Both volumes seem to still exist, and the RAID disk info is intact Trying to manually mount failed, but it turns out there's a simple solution Run a manual file system check and repair first:.

Depending on the size of your volume this could potentially take quite some time - about 4 hours in the case of our 12TB RAID-5 volume. So, be patient Of course, this may not resolve your specific issues, but if this fails you may have bigger problems, like a corrupt swap partition or something that may take some more work to reconstruct. After researching some other peoples solutions, there are some other steps you may be able to take that could help with your raid volumes For further reading, the QNAP forums have a wealth of information shared by some very knowledgable users.

For example, every time the NAS reboots, the filesystem is marked as unclean. Worse, it mounts as read-only from time to time. And it seems generally flaky. The eSATA seems positively snappy after that.

Of course, QNAP released version 4. So then I run e2fsck to check the filesystem. And invariably runs out of swap space. You should then be able to run e2fsck. Wow, what a great article.

This article finally takes it to the next level. Thank you so much. In fact, I go through periods where every reboot creates an unmount problem. It has become very frustrating. Perhaps its the amount of data with there very old Linux Kernel. I have a TS Pro. I know I looked them up to make sure they were supported. Any insight you can offer is greatly appreciated. I would love to see Qnap comes up with a brand new Disk architecture that makes their disk system more robust.

I just bought an Synology NAS for thievery first time. I am so impressed how much they have improved their software at the application layer. I want to see the same thing happen on the system software layer.By using our site, you acknowledge that you have read and understand our Cookie PolicyPrivacy Policyand our Terms of Service. It only takes a minute to sign up. It cannot fix filesystem type ufs at all, and may in fact cause more damage to an UFS filesystem if you force it to attempt repairs anyway.

For checking and fixing an UFS filesystem, you would need fsck. On some Linux distributions, it is available as a package named ufsutils : use your package manager to install it. If this disk was moved from a Solaris or BSD system, you might take it back there and use the tools of the original system to check the filesystem - those tools are much more likely to be up to date with the filesystem version actually used.

You just need to uninstall or update ext2fsd in your Windows. However, in order to bring your Linux back temporarily or urgently, you may write the command below in the black screen you see the error:.

Linked 4. Related 0. Hot Network Questions. Question feed. The natural way to interpret odds for (without calculating anything) is as the ratio of events to non-events in the long run. A simple example is that the (statistical) odds for rolling six with a fair die (one of a pair of dice) are 1 to 5. This is because, if one rolls the die many times, and keeps a tally of the results, one expects 1 six event for every 5 times the die does not show six.

For example, if we roll the fair die 600 times, we would very much expect something in the neighborhood of 100 sixes, and 500 of the other five possible outcomes. That is a ratio of 100 to 500, or simply 1 to 5. To express the (statistical) odds against, the order of the pair is reversed.

Hence the odds against famous malayalam dialogues a six with a fair die are 5 to 1. The gambling and statistical uses of odds are closely interlinked. If a bet is a fair one, then the odds offered to the gamblers will perfectly reflect relative probabilities. The profit and the expense exactly offset one another and so there is no advantage to gambling over the long run.

If the odds being offered to the gamblers do not correspond to probability in this way then one of the parties to the bet has an advantage over the other. Casinos, for example, offer odds that place themselves at an advantage, which is how they guarantee themselves a profit and survive as businesses. The fairness of a particular gamble is more clear in a game involving relatively pure chance, such as the ping-pong ball method used in state lotteries in the United States.

It is much harder to judge the fairness of the odds offered in a wager on a sporting event such as a football match. The language of odds such as "ten to one" for intuitively estimated risks is found in the sixteenth century, well before the development of mathematical probability.

Odds are expressed in the form X to Y, where X and Y are numbers. Usually, the word "to" is replaced by a symbol for ease of use.

This is conventionally either a slash or hyphen, although a colon is sometimes seen.

e2fsck(8) - Linux man page

When the probability that the event will not happen is greater than the probability that it will, then the odds are "against" that event happening. Odds of 6 to 1, for example, are therefore sometimes said to be "6 to 1 against".

e2fsck qnap

To a gambler, "odds against" means that the amount he or she will win is greater than the amount staked. It means that the event is more likely to happen than not.

This is sometimes expressed with the smaller number first (1 to 2) but more often using the word "on" ("2 to 1 on") meaning that the event is twice as likely to happen as not.

Note that the gambler who bets at "odds on" and wins will still be in profit, as his stake will be returned. In common parlance, this is a "50-50 chance". Guessing heads or tails on a coin toss is the classic example of an event that has even odds. In gambling, it is commonly referred to as "even money" or simply "evens" (1 to 1, or 2 for 1). The term "better than evens" (or "worse than evens") varies in meaning depending on context. Looked at from the perspective of a gambler rather than a statistician, "better than evens" means "odds against".However some of these formats are isolated, not shareable.

Marketers will also closely monitor effectiveness as studies start to show which formats consumers find annoying and intrusive, particularly on mobile.

These advancements create new challenges for marketers. Far from a controlled consumer view of a brand (TV, outdoor, instore), marketers will face multiplatform, multi-device, in and out of walled gardens, all differently experienced by every consumer. Geotargeting will be seen as a commercial opportunity: KFC has used Snapchat geofilters instore, and Snapchat itself is using geofilters to let people know where to find a Snapbot vending booth.

We will see more sequential content as marketers consider using retargeting for a more strategic and persuasive catenation of consumer messages. Consumers will stop seeing ads for a mattress they searched for, and bought, two weeks earlier. Marketers will try to introduce emotion into this (supposedly) highly rational, data-driven ecosystem as a point of difference, and to create a longer term bond with the consumer.

However, marketers will start to expect consistent metrics that they can compare, despite being in permanent beta. Done poorly, this targeting can be intrusive, creepy, off-point and ineffective. In 2017, marketers will focus on finding the right balance between precision and intrusion.

Advertisers and their agencies will align on the components of effective targeting based on brand affinity, interests and the appropriate demographics. Most marketers now understand that post-purchase targeting misses the opportunity to influence the consumer before they have decided on a brand. Effective targeting will successfully harmonize mid-cycle path to purchase variables with the requisite interest-based and demographic variables, and empower advertisers to identify the most addressable audiences for media activation.

This shift in approach will help marketers and their agencies focus on brand effectiveness from the moment the media begins. Marketers who do this successfully will amplify the power of their digital creative and influence the most appropriate and receptive audience for their brand. Digital advertising has had its wake up call and can no longer hit the snooze button.

The industry has been jolted into action by the continued rise of ad blocking software across desktop and mobile devices, and forecasts of billions in lost advertising revenue. We predict marketers will fight back with genuine improvements for consumers. More confident that UX basics will be addressed, publishers will be proactive in trying to win the hearts, minds and screen space of consumers. Marketing campaigns will focus both on deterring new ad blocking users and discouraging existing users.

The ethics of ad blocking will also be questioned as software providers increasingly attempt to profit from ad authorisation.
